How to start a workout plan (and stick to it)
Most workout plans fail in the first two weeks — and it is almost never the exercises. Here is how to start in a way that lasts.
Most workout plans fail in the first two weeks, and it is almost never because the exercise is hard. It is because the plan started too big. The key to a plan that lasts is the same as any habit: make it easy to start, then build.
Start small
Three sessions a week is enough to build a habit. You do not need to be at the gym every day to see progress. Pick a plan that fits the time you actually have, and make showing up the goal at first.
Be consistent
Consistency beats intensity. A three-session week you keep is worth more than a six-session week you abandon. Set fixed days, put them in the calendar, and treat them like appointments.
Progress, then repeat
Once a week feels easy, add a little — a rep, a set, a few pounds. That is progressive overload, and it is what turns a routine into real progress. Small, steady increases are the whole game.
Print the beginner workout plan and start with three sessions this week.
